Carrots

Autumn Planting

Carrots are the first seeds I have chosen, Early Nantes 2 – so, today, I have sown the seeds in the 2 light green bags. That will need some environmental fleece over them before the first frosts.

Secondly, I will be sowing some Kale, in the seed container trays, before planting out in the round green bag that the peas were in.

They will also need some protection from late butterflies etc.

The Kale that I am going to grow is Dwarf Green Curled. (Brassica oleracea (Acephala Group) Borecole)

Finally, I will also be sowing Durham Early Cabbage, which I will first sow in seed trays, then out in one of the dog troughs.

If I get the time and energy, I will sow some Arctic King lettuce, which can be found a space in a couple of the black containers. (Sow from August to September. Plant seeds directly outside into growing plot.)

I might even try to weed the other trough and sow some Cauliflower All Year Round in seed trays and then put them in their final growing position in the trough.

But it all depends on how much energy and time I may or may not have. My priority is getting the Kale and Cabbage sorted, anything else is a bonus.

The 25 Iris Reticulata bulbs arrived today, so they will need to be planted at the bottom of the garden near the pond, in a black container.
