Jobs to be done over the weekend and onward:

  • Transfer spare Kale and Cabbage plants from trug to 4th trug – Lewis and Jaki to do when he brings it back after Glastonbury
  • Some gardeners plant Alaskan Mixed Nasturtiums throughout the Rutabaga patch as a trap crop for aphids when they have germinated so that I can see where they are.
  • Attach the Blue Lake Beans to the trellis – Jaki ASAP
  • A 2nd Hosta plant is growing and will be ready to plant out in the hostas patch later on.

Plant the Courgettes into the large brown container ASAP.

Empress of India to be sown in the new charcoal trough.

In June – Sow winter Cabbages & All The Year Round Cauliflower inside module trays in June, and transplant them into the emptied bean toughs. Cabbage is a heavy feeder, so make sure to replenish your soil after harvesting with plenty of organic matter and fertilizers of your liking.

Other brassicas to sow in June are Brussels sprouts & Broccoli inside module trays in June, and transplant them in your cleared potato bags in July, when the seedlings are about a month old. 

Sow winter carrots as well in large pots – ASAP

Sow some herbs: make this a priority next week ASAP.
