Imara - Busy Lizzie

Easter was glorious!

Both John and I have been working very hard over the last few weeks as local elections have had their impact.

Finally, I have been able to spend some quality time in my garden. I have cleared several troughs and pots of weeds and rubbish. Luckily for me I found a secret treasure – strawberry plants growing very nicely!

Then I found a potato plant growing in one of the troughs.

Even more surprising is the Dianthus plants are flowering in a beautiful shade of pink, some of the flower heads had gone to seed so I collected the seeds and placed them in a small trough to see if any germinated.

I bought a Basil plant from Tesco and decided to separate the seedlings from the pot into several new pots in the hope that I would get more plants for my money! Watch this space to see if it works.

The pea seedlings that were growing on the kitchen windowsill were planted in the same trough as the potato, so they should grow together quite nicely. I do need to get something for the peas to grow up, like some netting or trellis or something of that nature.

Lastly, I started to clear the weeds from one of the lavender plants, but I think it has died. I will give it a bit of time to recover but I do not hold out much hope for it.

Holbury Hardware delivered 3 bags of compost on Good Friday ready for my new trough, and when it has been filled (I may have to buy some more), then I can start my salad production 🙂

It looks like I will have 3 big containers to put plants into or grow some vegetables, not decided yet as I need to look at my sowing and planting plan – its flexible, thankfully.

I put the Busy Lizzie plants into bigger pots and put them outside, and the new lavender plants are in the greenhouse ready to acclimatise to being outside. I hope they survive the cold spell that is to come over the next few days.
