Last Sunday of British Summer Time
Thanks to Tina, her birthday present was some Heucheras; ‘Lime Marmalade’ lives up to its name and is a lovely lime green and the ‘Berry Smoothie’ which is a lovely plum colour.
I have also got the 3 x Festuca Intense Blue – Blue Grass Plants, as they were still on offer.
The 7 Hostas from John turned out to be 9 Hostas and 4 healthy Ferns for my shady area under the bush on the right hand side.
I have potted the Hostas on and will plant them up in the spring. I am just waiting for some Ericaceous compost, so that the ferns will be happy being planted with that soil. I may even top up the Acers that are still living with it too.
The garden really needs a tidy up and pots need to be emptied and planted with Iris bulbs, and onion sets.
The Kale and cabbage needs to be planted in the veg trug and mulched with the rest of the ordinary compost, covering them with the hooped netting or the environmental fleece if I can find it! (or buy some more)
I have some geraniums in cells that could be potted on into bigger pots ready for the spring too.
All I need now for my Zen garden is some pebbles/stones to fill in around the 7 round stone steps forming a ‘kind of river’ towards the Acers and the Rhododendron in the corner, flowing past the Hostas, Heucheras and the ornamental ‘intense blue fescue’ grasses and ferns.
